How to Make a Pizza that you can Enjoy at Pizza Republic

I went back to Pizza Republic Pix + Mix by Guiseppe Genco yesterday.  This time, I came more prepared than the last time I went there.  My first visit was during the day the store opened and I knew I could have done better with my pizza then.  I was satisfied with my first ever creation there but when it comes to making food, the best does not come out after doing it once. I basically went back with a vengeance.

Pizza is probably one of the easiest food that you can make. Children can do it. Old people can do it.  If done right, you can have an Italian masterpiece.  If you do it wrong, you could end up having an upset stomach. You rarely can do wrong though, with Pizza but there are combinations that work so well together like and Ham and Pineapples, Beef and Mushrooms, 4 different types of cheeses, etc.

How many pizza slices can you eat in one sitting? Way back in college (like decades ago), I think my record in eat all you can at Pizza Hut was over 15 slices.  Pizza Republic is not an eat all you can place but if you "invent" your new personal favorite, probably you will end up making and eating more than 1 whole Pizza.

Here are the steps in making a pizza at Pizza Republic:

Step 1: Pick a Sauce
You will be given a choice between red and while sauce. The red sauce is a tomato based sauce while the white sauce is the creamier cheese and butter based sauce. Traditional pizza calls for the red but some establishments make white sauce variants like Da Vinci Pizza.

In my recent visit, I picked red. Hands down I will pick red sauce 9 out of 10 times.

Step 2: Pick you Cheese
Pizza Republic has a lot of cheese choice.  The usual suspects will be there like the popular mozzarella, cheddar, cream cheese, Parmesan and kesong puti.  They could offer more choices on some days and sometimes less.

For my pizza, I picked Mozzarella and cheddar. You can never go wrong with Mozzarella. I just added cheddar because I can do that there and I wanted different cheese flavors in my pizza.

Step 3: Choose your meat
A good pizza must have protein since you are not just creating a snack but a meal. A good meal must have meat I would say. They have good stuff here.  They have a wide range of cold cuts and sausages.

For my pizza, I picked Coppa Ham, Pepper Salami, and Pepperoni. I did not want to overload my pizza either so I just picked the 3 best meat toppings for me.  You can actually have more if you want.

Step 4: Pick additional toppings
It is practically toppings all you can there so pick as many but pick wisely.  They have pineapples, mushrooms, basil, garlic, onions, chili, olives, etc. With so many choices, you could probably make a formula for heaven in a pizza or a 10-inch ticket to the toilet.  Choose wisely because 1 pizza is almost a day wage for some workers in the country and it would be a shame if it goes to waste.

In my visit, I picked 2 kinds of mushrooms, caramelized onions, and toasted garlic as a finisher. Mushrooms go well with meat. I love the sweetness that the caramelized onions provide while the crispy garlic gives my pizza some different texture.

Step 5: (Optional) Add Additional Sauce or Oil
After you picked all your toppings, you will be asked by your personal Pizza assistant if you want to add some sauce or oil to coat your toppings.  Choices will be pesto, olive oil, anchovies, and barbecue sauce.

I picked just olive oil.

Step 6: Get your number, pay, and wait.
Your pizza will be ready in a few minutes.  Realx, take some photos or talk to your companion and in no time, your creation is ready.

Step 7:  Enjoy your own masterpiece.
Name your pizza. Take photos. Post it in Instagram. Tell your friends about it. Share and praise each others pizza. Eating is the fun part and it becomes a different experience at Pizza Republic because you are eating something you conceptualized.
I name my latest creation as "The Carlo".  I really enjoyed it and my companion was impressed.  The sweetness of the caramelized onions and the crunchiness of the garlic made it different. I always love meat and mushroom so I was confident that "The Carlo" will be memorable.

Additional tips:
1. Prepare before you go there. Search the internet for some artisan pizza recipes and you would probably wow your friends or your date when you come there.
2. Be open to new ideas. If you want the same old pizza that you usually have then this not the place for you. Try out new ingredients or your can also ask the assistants for suggestions.
3. Bring your smart phone. The place is insta-worthy and you can invent your personal #foodporn creation.

At Pizza Republic, the possibilities are endless. It is a great place to showcase your pizza making skills. It is also an awesome place for family or friends to bond. Try it out some time and let me know about your pizza creation and who knows, I will try to copy it and make a post about it here in my blog. Also, feel free to recreate "The Carlo" and tell me what you think.
